If you’re planning to start playing, or if you already have but are at a loss on what to do, then we have you covered. This guide explains important tidbits that every beginner must know — along with a list of efficient things to do (and not do) to get you moving.

Starting Out (Character Creation & Rerolling)

After choosing your server, you’ll be able to pick the class you want to play as and customize their looks however you please. All characters are decently balanced and you’ll be able to create another character whenever you’d like to anyway, so feel free to pick whatever character you want. As for rerolling, know that it is not necessary as the process just takes too long and is not worth it overall. The game has a 10x multi-summon rerolling system for Familiars built-in specifically for this. In the 10x multi-summon that all beginners should be able to pull in, the recommended familiars for you to pick up are Mite, Suiryu, and Oroboros, along with any three 3★ Familiar you want.

Primary Objectives

To ensure a strong start, here are all of the things that all new players should prioritize right after they start playing the game.

1. Reach Level 38 ASAP

As a complete beginner, you’ll face very little to no roadblocks when it comes to leveling your character in general. The sooner you reach Level 38, the sooner you can unlock all of the important game modes and features that will help your character tremendously in terms of growth. You can reach Level 38 easily by clearing all Story Quests and Reputation Quests you can take on, as well as doing Swift Solution Quests near the end of each daily reset for maximum returns.

2. Craft Equipment

Your equipment is a huge factor in whether or not you’ll be able to take on more dangerous mobs or bosses in the future, so craft as many of them as you can in the crafting shop located in Evermore. Crafting equipment requires Weapon and Armor Recipes, Weapon and Armor Materials, Gold, and Territe. You can get a lot of these items just by playing through the game passively as rewards, but farming in any of the Chaos Field floors either manually or AFK will help to acquire a lot of them.

3. Farm Power Up Dungeons

Power Up Dungeons are limited-entry stages that will provide you with the necessary materials to strengthen your Familiars and Equipment. These kinds of materials are pretty hard to come by normally in the game, so this is why you must unlock all of the Power Up Dungeons as soon as you can. Keep in mind that you can only enter these dungeons once per day, so try to clear the highest possible level you can clear.

4. Hatch or Tame Familiars

Thought you needed to pull in the gacha for Familiars? Well, you can just hatch Familiar eggs with Gold and Heart Stars and see what your luck can get you. Using Wish Tags increases the chance that you’ll get Familiars with those specific tags, so make sure that you use them whenever a good tag appears (as shown in the image above). If you want, you can even tame Familiars anywhere on the world map and make them your own! You can do this by approaching Brighterflies and feeding them Biscuits. Taming Familiars has a low chance of yielding high-rarity Familiars, so it is advisable to do this as often as you can — especially in high-level maps.

5. Farm Co-op Bosses

Enemies in co-op boss stages like the World Boss and the Field Boss will yield accessories that you drastically need for a sizable stat and CP boost. In case you’re not able to get these accessories while farming these bosses, don’t worry. You can craft accessories in the crafting shop located in Evermore by using the materials they drop anyway. Note: you can only farm bosses like the World Boss and Dimensional Border Boss a limited amount of times per week. Field Bosses, on the other hand, can be slain as many times as you can within a given timeframe. I recommend switching servers and killing them about two to three times (if possible) every time they spawn for maximum farming efficiency.

6. Join a Kingdom

Finally, all new players are encouraged to join a Kingdom – simply because you can unlock a ton of new features that’ll help with your account growth. For example, the Kingdom’s general shop comes with all sorts of useful items – like pure EXP and Familiar Jellies – which you can buy every day! You can also buy Buffs and other rare items from the Theatre and the Auction Shop respectively, so there’s really no reason to not join a Kingdom as soon as you unlock it.

How To Power Up Your Characters

Here are all the ways that new players can power up your characters quickly.

Equipment

As far as raising your Combat Power goes, choosing your equipment carefully and upgrading them often is by far among the most important things you can do. You can increase both your DPS output and survivability tremendously just by either Leveling Up, Upgrading, Enhancing, Awakening them up, or embedding them with Gems. To strengthen your equipment, you need materials like Equipment Varnishes, Enhancement Stones, Upgrade Stones, and duplicates. So keep an eye out for them whenever you can.

Familiars

After your Equipment, your choice of Familiars will give your character a sizable CP boost depending on how strong and how rare they are. They can either be Leveled Up, Evolved, Enhanced, or Awakened — all of which raise your maximum CP as long as the specific Familiar you’ve powered up is equipped. To strengthen your Familiars, you need materials like Bean Pods, Evolution Fruits, Jellies, duplicates, and even Familiar Toys which you unlock at Level 43!

Collectibles (Record, Collection, & Specialties)

Simply acquiring all sorts of items and killing specific mobs in this game can strengthen your character little by little. Collect enough Equipment, Familiars, Skills, Costumes, and Emotions and the bonuses will eventually accumulate — giving you a very respectable boost in Combat Power. Alternatively, you can farm monsters that drop items called Specialties and Soulstones which can also increase your CP once you’ve collected enough of them.

Achievements

Next up, you can also boost your total Combat Power massively by leveling your Achievement Grade Up. You can do this simply by doing your everyday tasks in the game like strengthening your gears and familiars, clearing story and reputation quests, killing monsters, and many more!

Other Power-Up Methods

You can increase your CP through a lot of other ways in this game, and this includes things like:

Finding Chests & Vistas Raising your Lucky Higgledy Level Upgrading your Heart Stars Solving Tetro Puzzles Acquiring Titles

Simply playing through the game as you go will allow you to raise your CP through these methods, so feel free to just do your priorities first and foremost.

Ni no Kuni: Cross Worlds General Tips

Ni No Kuni: Cross Worlds is a massive game. It has several gameplay mechanics, game modes, and QoL features that all new players must fully grasp. Naturally, there is a lot of information out there that you can use to your advantage, and things that you could be doing to improve your overall quality of gameplay. To help you in your journey in this game, here are several of those important pieces of information that encourage you to play more efficiently as a beginner.

Tip #1: Create Alt Characters for Inventory Slots

You can create additional characters after creating your first one through the Character Selection screen that you see every time you log in. What I would advise is to create Alts as soon as your first character hits level 40. This will make the whole leveling process for your other characters much easier. Creating Alts is very important in this game because you gain additional 25 Inventory slots per character that you level up to Level 20, which is incredibly useful in the early game.

Tip #2: Buy and Use Your Energy Drink & Aroma of Focus Wisely

Energy Drinks and Aromas of Focus are two of the most important consumable items in the game. Aside from the shop, daily rewards, and login rewards, the sources of these two are quite limited. An Energy Drink increases the total EXP, Gold, and other Items dropped per enemy killed — while Aroma of Focus increases the rate at which Soulstones and Specialties are dropped. You can buy them from the Basic Shop for 50 Diamonds each. I wouldn’t recommend buying more than one of them per day as the price multiplies every time you purchase one.

Tip #3: Visit Your Kingdom Dominion Regularly

After joining a Kingdom, you are beholden to a lot of fantastic new features that’ll help grow your account in the long run. And thus, you should regularly visit all of the locations in your Kingdom Dominion – because that’s where you can access those features in the first place. At the very least, you should go to the Dominion to check in and try donating as much Gold, Obsidians, and Prisms as you can daily. Doing this will help your Kingdom level up faster, therefore unlocking and upgrading more features that you can take advantage of.

Tip #4: Make Sure You’re Farming Monsters the Right Way

In this game, there are only three rules when it comes to farming monsters that you should keep in mind: Rule #1: Only farm monsters that are within 3 levels of you for maximum EXP gain. Rule #2: Always check what monsters drop before farming them. You can do this easily by looking up their drop tables located on the Map. Rule #3: Don’t PK other players who are AFK farming monsters. Rule #3 is just optional, of course, but do note that PKing AFKers may be problematic because it can potentially waste the Energy Drinks/Aroma of Focus they’ve taken before the farming session.

Tip #5: Only Invest on 4★ Rarity Equipment or Familiars

3★ Equipment and Familiars are fine and all, but they generally don’t compare to their 4★ counterparts when it comes to overall viability in the long term. In fact, most midgame and endgame builds should consist only of either 4★ or Rare 4★ Familiars and Equipment because of the superior combat effects they can provide. Moreover, do keep in mind that you’ll be able to accumulate enough 4★ Equipment and Familiars via crafting and hatching if you do it consistently enough.

Tip #6: When in Battle, Always Use Familiars & Weapons with Elemental Advantage

When it comes to combat in general, this is one of the most important rules that all players should abide by. After all, using a Weapon and a Familiar with the Elemental Advantage will increase your DPS output significantly. Of course, the complete opposite applies if you ignore this tip, so be sure to keep an eye out for the opponent’s element and exploit their weakness!

Tip #7: Always Use Up Your Daily AI Mode Limit

AI Mode is an excellent quality of life feature that allows you to farm a specific area of the map even when you’re out of the game. Of course, there’s absolutely no reason why you shouldn’t take advantage of this. Once you’ve found the right monsters to farm, you should always make sure that you turn on AI Mode before you exit the game. You’ll level up and gain tons of resources quickly this way.

Tip #8: Do Your Dailies & Weeklies

These tasks really are worth doing. You can receive a lot of precious resources such as Territe, Equipment Recipes, Familiar Eggs, Energy Drinks, and Aromas of Focus as completion rewards here. Moreover, Dailies and Weeklies also offer a very solid guideline for a daily/weekly routine which makes them very helpful especially for new players.

Ni no Kuni: Cross Worlds Do’s & Don’ts

Here’s a brief list of things that you absolutely should and should not do as a beginner in Ni no Kuni: Cross Worlds. Do’s:

Do complete your Dailies and Weeklies consistently Do level up to Level 38 as quickly as you can Do join a Kingdom and visit the Kingdom Dominion often Do use Equipment and Familiars with an elemental advantage Do join parties for AFK farming and hard content to make battles easier Do check monster drops before you farm Do use your AI Mode to its max limit daily Do explore the maps and interact with Vistas, Chests, breakable items, and Brighterflies Do create alt characters for additional inventory slots Do clear your Power Up Dungeons every day

Don’ts:

Don’t spend too much of your resources on 3★ Equipment and Familiars Don’t spend any Diamonds on the Equipment and Costume gacha Don’t waste your Energy Drinks and Aromas of Focus Don’t forget to hunt your Co-op bosses when they spawn Don’t leave your Swift Solution Quests uncleared before a daily reset Don’t forget to buy tons of Health Potions in the Basic Shop regularly Don’t pull on a Limited Banner if you can’t hit pity Don’t Salvage all of your 1★ and 2★ gear. Awaken some for Codex rewards instead Don’t be disrespectful in the in-game chat.
