Gematsu also noted that Video Games Chronicle corroborated Ahmad’s information over the weekend, as did Eurogamer’s Tom Phillips.
Ahmad said some reveals are much earlier than anticipated, while some will still take place during what would have been E3 week. He also mentioned the first “proper” reveal of next-gen consoles would take place earlier now.
Video Games Chronicle said one of their sources believed the PlayStation 5 reveal will take place sometime in May, as will the Xbox Series X reveal. Of course, all this is assuming there will be no further complications, Ahmad adds.
The reveals reportedly won’t stop at E3 week either. Eurogamer’s Tom Phillips added we should expect to see reveals through July and beyond, as developers lost time during the switch to remote work.
Sony has already dealt with several notable issues thanks to the coronavirus. In a report speculating on PlayStation 5 pricing, Bloomberg also reported the DualSense reveal was hastily pushed forward. The Last of Us Part 2’s release was also delayed until an indefinite time because of the virus.
The original story covering these additions to Ahmad’s comments is over on Gematsu. Stay tuned to GameSkinny for more next-gen console news as it develops.
