The doorbell is powered by a rechargeable battery so there’s no need to use existing doorbell wiring. Battery life is expected to be around 6 months depending on how busy your doorstep is. It connects wirelessly to the Eufy HomeBase 2 with 16GB of storage space available for storing past clips and video footage. As with other Eufy doorbells, there’s no need to subscribe to a service to review such footage. Eufy reckons, on average, 16GB of storage is enough for 90 days worth of footage. The device also uses AI to identify any parcels within its field of view meaning you should know exactly what’s going on long before you open your front door. It also has a Family Recognition feature that uses AI to recognize friends and family when they call round. It also uses radar technology to more accurately detect humans and reduce the risk of false alarms and notifications. Announced at CES 2022, the Eufy Security Video Doorbell Dual (Battery) will go on sale on February 8 in the US followed by a February 16 launch in the UK. An Australian release is also expected but no release date has been set yet. The video doorbell will be priced at $259.99/£229.99 when it launches. Alternatively, it’s priced at $350 with a HomeBase 2 if you don’t already own one. It should prove an ideal alternative to the best home security systems out there, while costing significantly less. Combine with the best smart locks, and you have a real high-tech security system for your home.
