To help us watch from the exact moment we stopped watching, Netflix has an option called ‘Continue Watching’. It keeps track of all the titles you clicked on, and remains there till the series or movie has been watched completely. This is very useful as it is very difficult to keep track of when we stopped watching something.

But when we don’t want to watch further, we need to remove the titles from this ‘continue watching’ bar. If we don’t remove them, the titles keep adding up and it is hard to find something you want to watch further. Netflix introduced the long-awaited option to remove these titles in 2020.

There are different ways to remove these titles, so keep reading to find out all of them step by step and pick what you want to use.

On your smartphone

There are two ways you can remove the “Continue Watching” option of Netflix.

Method 1

First of all, make sure that you are on the right profile. As any user knows, Netflix’s multiple profiles need to be carefully managed.  Find the title of the movie or TV show that you want to stop watching in the ‘Continue Watching list. Below the title, there will be three dots in the corner, on the right. Click on the three dots. You will get a list of options, such as ‘episodes and info’, ‘like’, ‘not for me’. Find the option, ‘Remove From Row’ in that list. You can then click on the ‘remove from row’ option to erase the title from the list. Once you do so, they will ask if you’re sure you want to remove that title.  You can choose ‘ok’ if you want to continue, or ‘cancel’ if you have changed your mind. And that’s it! That title is now deleted from your ‘Continue Watching’ list until you start watching it again, which is when it will show up.

Method 2

First, confirm if you are on the right profile.  In that profile, click on the ‘more’ option. It will be the logo of your profile on the right corner of the page. You will get a list of settings options again, out of which you will need to choose ‘Account’. Once you click on ‘account’, Netflix will open up in your browser.  Scroll down to find the list of profiles and again choose the profile you want to access.  Out of the options that show up at this point, choose to click on ‘viewing activity.  Now you can see your whole viewing history, including each episode and movie.  Erase the ones you do not want to keep, and they will be removed from your ‘continue watching’ list as well.

On your desktop

Confirm if you are in the right profile. The logo of your profile is a helpful indicator if you don’t know otherwise. Hover the cursor on the title that you want to remove in the ‘continue watching’ list. There will be an option that is an ‘x’ in a circle. If you keep the cursor over it, you can see ‘remove from row’. Click on that option and you can remove the title from the ‘continue watching’ list through your desktop itself.

On the desktop too, you can also remove titles from ‘continue watching’ by erasing your viewing activity. The steps are the same for smartphones and desktops, so you can follow the previous directions.

On your television

To remove the titles on your television is also easy. First, check again if you’re accessing the correct profile. In your list, click on the title that you want to erase. In that title, choose to go to the ‘details’ page.  You will get many options if you click this. Click on ‘remove from continue watching’. And that’s it! That title will be erased from your list.

Conclusion

When Netflix first introduced this feature, users were incredibly thankful. It was considered Netflix’s most annoying feature. Users like to experiment with a lot of series and movies without sticking to one and finishing it. But seeing it time and again gets irritating, especially as it adds to a very long list that gets difficult to navigate after a point.

With these steps, you can remove the titles from the ‘continue watching’ list easily. If you face any unexpected problems, you can contact Netflix’s customer service and explain your difficulty. Happy Binging!
