NBCUniversal is launching a streaming service, which will be known as Peacock. The announcement, anticipated for some time, comes as the streaming wars continue to take shape. Apple has recently announced the launch date and monthly price for its Apple TV+, its streaming platform, while Netflix has made headlines for its acquisition of the streaming rights to Seinfeld. Peacock will be joining a field that will soon be quite crowded. In addition to Netflix and Apple TV+, Disney’s streaming platform will make its official launch in November, with Disney+ having an enviably large catalog of recognizable pop culture brands to choose from....

Netflix is turning Joe Ballarini’s children’s book series A Babysitter’s Guide to Monster Hunting into a feature film to be directed by Rachel Talalay. The film is going to primarily be an adaptation of the first book in Ballarini’s series. The project has been in the works since 2015, spearheaded by Walden Media and Montecito Pictures Company. The three-book series is a throwback to kid horror mainstays like R.L. Stine’s Goosebumps and Nickelodeon’s Are You Afraid of the Dark?...

New York state Comptroller Thomas DiNapoli’s latest audit suggested the Metropolitan Transportation Authority gave Apple an unfair advantage last year when the company bid for a spot in Grand Central Terminal. Following its annual tradition, Seagate has announced a new collection of stylish, premium-priced drives in time for the 2016 CES, most now featuring USB-C and USB 3.1 connectors. Last week it was revealed that Apple Watch would be launching in New Zealand on July 31st, but without any sort of pricing information.
