Despite the Predator franchise currently being on hold following the disappointment of 2018’s The Predator, the series could very well still continue. The film had been positioned as a long-awaited relaunch for the series, but underperformed significantly upon its release last fall. While many users find the Quick Look functionality in macOS incredibly convenient, security researchers have uncovered a security hole that could expose the content of files stored on encrypted drives… First discovered by security researcher Wojciech Regula, and shared today on The Hacker News, the bug relates to how the macOS generates thumbnails for files and folders in an effort to provide the Quick Look functionality to users. These thumbnails are then cached to allow access via Quick Look....

Netflix has just updated its iOS app with a nicer user interface following an overhauled Android app from a month ago. Netflix version 2.0 with a prettified appearance is now available in all regions, Netflix said, including the United States, Canada and Latin America. The new interface provides access to twice as many television shows and movies available for streaming. Interestingly, the app is now available in Latin America for both the iPhone and iPad just as Apple announced the arrival of both the iTunes Store with iTunes Match in Latin America and Apple TV in Brazil....

Earlier this month, a leaked image reportedly showcased LG’s upcoming, but still unofficial, V10 — a device that is said to feature a secondary “ticker display.” Unfortunately, back then, the image wasn’t that great, so it was hard to tell just what that auxiliary display would look like on the final product. Now, a new image from serial leaker Evan Blass (@evleaks) has reconfirmed that the ticker display is indeed real, and it sits right above the actual 5....

The upcoming version of the Android operating system is scheduled to debut at the company’s I/O 2017 developer conference in May. Netatmo announced today that it will support Apple HomeKit with its Presence and Welcome security camera systems. HomeKit support will bring Siri control, Home app access, and automation with other HomeKit accessories to the video cameras. Welcome ($120.90, reg. $199) is Netatmo’s 1080p HD indoor camera with a 130º field of vision and night vision, while Presence ($229, reg. $299) is the company’s weatherproof HD outdoor camera with zoom and a flood light....

Netflix’s The Stranger has become incredibly popular on the streaming service and is actually an adaptation of a novel. The book, written by Harlan Coben was released in 2015 and because of its success and the fact it was a gripping story, Netflix opted to make it into a television show. However, as with all adaptations of a book, changes were inevitable and Netflix’s The Stranger has plenty of them. The new trailer for Netflix’s animated comedy Tuca & Bertie delivers a look at two thirty-something best friends, who happen to be anthropomorphic birds. If the animation and talking animals looks familiar, it’s because the series hails from the team that helped bring BoJack Horseman to life, namely, Lisa Hanawalt, who created Tuca & Bertie, and Raphael Bob-Waksberg, creator of the aforementioned animated horseman. BoJack has been a critical darling for Netflix and, presumably, an enormous hit, considering reruns of the series have made their way off the streaming service and onto basic cable in a syndication deal with Comedy Central....

A new animated Ghost in the Shell project is moving forward, following the release of the live-action film adaptation. The latter movie is currently on its way to becoming one of 2017’s bigger box office failures. Grossing only $19 million during its U.S. opening weekend, the movie, based on the classic Ghost in the Shell manga/anime, has been hit hard by accusations of whitewashing - with the casting of Scarlett Joahnsson in what is traditionally an Asian role having seemingly damaged the movie’s chances of success, as has the middling reviews that Ghost in the Shell has received....

iMore‘s Rene Ritchie claims that Apple plans to release its next-generation iPhone, the “iPhone 5S,” in August. Good news for new MacBook Air and Mac mini owners who are serious about audio. While yes, both machines retain the 3.5mm headphone jack, unlike some other devices Apple has recently announced, the new Macs now better handle audio when played through the jack or through the built-in speakers. In a post on its blog, Rogue Amoeba explains that the 3.5mm audio jack and the built-in speakers on the new MacBook Air and Mac mini are now two separate devices in macOS....

At this point, not much is known about the next-gen HTC One (M8) except that it will sport a 5-inch 1080p display. Today, thanks to @evleaks, we have some more information about how the handset looks and its month of announcement. Rumors had earlier indicated that the HTC M8 will sport a tweaked design of the current-gen One. Validating those rumors is the latest tweet from @evleaks which suggests that the M8 will look “strikingly like the” current-gen One....

The consultation was kicked off at the start of 2020 as Australian enterprise telcos complained of NBN overbuilding existing networks.
