Initially, Viking Horde malware was discovered by the security team at Check Point and they reported to Google on May 5. This malware has been labelled as dangerous as it has the potential to attack non rooted as well as rooted android devices. Rooted devices are at high risk because this lets the malware to download additional components which makes it very difficult to remove. “On rooted devices, Viking Horde delivers additional malware payloads that can execute any code remotely,” the security firm stated....

The Haswell processor has allowed Apple to do some pretty amazing things with its MacBook Air computers. Usually we see incremental improvements in specs but this time around we are seeing game-changing spec bumps. Most amazing is Apple’s claims of battery life that is almost double from the previous MacBook Airs (and which will be further enhanced by Mavericks). The MacBook Air goes from 5 hours to 9 hours while the 13-inch model goes from 7 hours to 12 hours....

The Walking Dead: World Beyond finally announces a premiere date, and reveals it will only run for two seasons. AMC’s Walking Dead slate already seemed pretty full with the flagship series entering its tenth season and the first spinoff Fear the Walking Dead headed into season 6. Several contradicting reports have come out recently regarding the possibility of Apple introducing an iPhone 6c next month alongside its refreshed iPhone 6 and 6 Plus. Now, Fiksu reports that it has seen two new iPhones in its web traffic logs for the month of July: iPhone 8,1 and iPhone 8,2. Notably missing is any device that could be the rumored iPhone 6c. For those unaware, the iPhone 6 and iPhone 6 Plus carried the iPhone 7,2 and iPhone 7,1 identifiers, respectively, while the iPhone 5c was represented as iPhone 5,3....

A couple of weeks after Google released the Nexus 5 and Android 4.4 KitKat, the company has finally started rolling out the KitKat update for the Nexus 7 (2012/2013) and the Nexus 10. The second developer preview of OS X Mountain Lion, which seeded to developers on Saturday, introduced support for location-based reminders in the “Reminders” app. In developer preview 1, users could only create due date-based reminders. Interestingly, it appears the Mac will track your location when connected to Wi-Fi and alert you when you arrive at the specified location, just like an iPhone would. The reminders can also be synced over-the-air to iOS devices using iCloud....

In a blog post this week, Niantic has outlined a new three-strike policy for Pokémon GO cheaters. The policy explains that players who cheat will receive a series of punishments, gradually increasing in severity… Through the three strike system, Pokémon GO cheaters will first receive a warning coupled with a downgraded gameplay experience: You may not be able to encounter rare Pokémon in the wild. These Pokémon may not appear on the map or on the Nearby Pokémon tracker....

Apple has announced that the grand opening for its new Cumberland Mall store in Atlanta, Georgia will take place this Saturday, September 6th at 10 AM. The store will be the sixth Apple retail location in the state. It looks like construction is ready to get underway at the Franklin Park Mall location in Toledo as well, which will become the eighth store in Ohio. The iconic black barricades that usually precede the appearance of an Apple Store have been put up in front of the upcoming location (as seen in the photo above from Ed Hunter on Twitter)....

Yesterday Apple rolled out its new iTunes Pass service to Japan, allowing users to use a Passbook card to add credit to an iTunes account from an Apple Retail Store. Starting today, the offer is also available in the United States and Australia. Users in Canada, Germany, and the UK are also reporting seeing the feature, though it’s not officially listed on Apple’s website for those countries just yet. To take advantage of this new program, you need to use the iTunes Store app on an iOS device to obtain an iTunes Pass....

A planning permission meeting for a new Apple Store in Memphis has seemingly revealed more information about Apple’s plans for its retail stores. According to the Apple representative, the Memphis project represents one of the first ‘next generation’ Apple Store designs that Apple is rolling out around the world, starting in the fall.
